FAQ
We've got the answers to all your Smeldt questions right here!
Our candles are made of 100% pure mineral wax. The Smeldt collection's highly refined, carefully measured and tinctured waxes ensure the cleanest burn possible for your home - without any harmful VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds) like benzene or formaldehyde present when you light up one our scented beauties! You'll be able to enjoy them guilt free while also knowing that they're safe around children thanks in part by studies conducted through independent laboratories who have confirmed these findings time after time again as being true. The burning of these delicious-smelling, long lasting candles is completely safe for both you and your environment!
Did you know that the production facility produces the candles Co2-neutral!
the smallest size burns for approx. 60 hours (content is about 300ml)
the middle size burns for approx. 90 hours (content is about 950ml)
the largest size burns for approx. 225 hours (content about 3500ml)
The above burning times are indicative only and can vary from one model to the other. The indicated burning time assumes a correct usage of the candle.
A candle with an already liquid wax gets used up faster than a candle with partially solid wax. For that reason, we recommend that you blow out your candle an hour after the wax has completely liquefied. This will allow it to last longer.
1. Perfuming Christophe Laumiel, a master perfumer from France who has worked with some of the most prestigious brands in his home country and abroad is the mastermind behind this new fragrance. Smeldt fragrances are the result of a careful development with the deliciously unique scent experience of The island of New Guinea, the home of the bird of paradise.
2. Preparing
All our candles are handmade in the EU. They start by setting up their own wicks and then they're set at the bottom of each glass so that it stays perfectly centered as well!
3. Pouring
The molten wax is mixed with the perfume, then it's poured by hand into an alignment of glasses for maximum effect.
4. Centering When the wax is poured, it bends slightly due to the effect of heat and then becomes stiff once cooled. We use hands when pouring so that each wick stays centered in its own individual glass frame before being closed off.
5. Cutting
After the candles have been created, they are surfaced. This process entails melting part of their tops so that there is no burning residue on them and then cutting wicks at specified heights to ensure an optimal first burn for any future burns.
6. Decorating
Smeldt candles are the perfect embodiment of timelessness. A luxurious, expertly-executed object from beginning to end with real 10 karat gold - it is impossible not be impressed!
